 Happy Raining 4th of July

Hello everyone,

I was having blogstream jitters last night. I haven't been on in a week. I like the new house. I don't have internet, cable or a land line yet so it's definetely different. Our store closes the week of the 4th but my doctor has me in the cast for another week as it's not healing properly. Mainly because I can't stay off it like I'm supposed to. I spent Monday and Tuesday on my butt. It did help. I would have enjoyed doing something different on my days off but.....

Today it's raining. I feel sorry for those who planned picnics and events. We had no plans but to work on the house we're selling so I got a bunch of take out picnic food and my husband and I are just painting, etc. I know it sounds like we've been doing this for a long time, believe me, there's a lot that needed done. With work and other activities it's not going very fast. He's the only one doing anything. My son went away and the daughter's been working and living the life a just graduated teen.

My 85 year old mother has been very sick for THREE WEEKS!! I've been so worried. The doctor said its a virus. She's done nothing but cough, cough up unpleasant gunk, and run a fever off and on. As of Friday she was finally starting to get better. I took her flowers and food, she was doing good. Today SICK AGAIN! I'm keeping an eye on her but I'm taking her back to the doctor if this keeps up.

Trying to catch up on some blogs. Take Care and Have a great 4th of July everyone.

Mama Mia the Green Foom and the Fly.....

This is a picture of the infamous green kitchen and dining room painting mistake in decorating. Just a wrong color for the style house. The house is a colonial and my dining room furniture is vintage 40s. It just didn't work (and was ugly).. That's the recent graduate in the pic. Incidentaly the painting is an oil my mother painted years ago. I have a lot of her pictures in my house. She did mostly oils but dabbled in some pastels and watercolors.

Yesterday I went to see Mama Mia (on the road in Hershey PA). I saw it 4 years ago and it was just as good and just as funny and just as entertaining. It's a very fun upbeat play. This was the last in our Season tickets for the year. I was also glad to go spend the day at the play and go out to dinner and get away from this moving mess.

I'm very frustrated with this ankle injury and we were all working different times. Sooner or later we'll get things organized.
I feel like the scientist in the 1958 movie The Fly. Does anyone remember this movie? It starred Vincent Price, Patricia Owens and David Hedison? (I confess I only remember Vincent Price so I looked up the other two). Vincent Price plays the brother of a woman whose husband accidently gets his head and foot exchanged with a fly in a transport machine he built himself. The fly has this hysterically funny high voice and is trying to get his wife to help him commit suicide. Meanwhile the housefly has a human body with a fly head and is dragging around a fly foot. Anyway, while I'm dragging around my "boot" I keep thinking of that fly. It's a campy horrow movie. I loved it as a kid.

Have good day

 Hope's Boy and T.S. Eliot

Recently I saw a book advertised called "Hopes Boy" by Andrew Bridge which I intend to read when I get a chance. It's a true account of a young man who was forced into an unhappy upbringing in foster care when his mother becomes mentally ill. While at my various appointments for my injured ankle Monday I was reading an excerpt in Readers Digest referring to this book. Andrew states that in his senior year English class they studied "The Love Song Of J. Alfred Prufrock" by T.S. Eliot. The poem warned about a man who had wasted his life in silence, too timid to demand a place in th world. This poem had an enormous effect on Andrew. When he was 18 he was accepted to Wesylan College, after graduating he went on to Harvard Law School where he graduated in 1989. He's now an advocate for foster children's access to legal and medical services and educational opportunities.

There's quite a few examples of this poem on utube. I narrowed it down to the two I enjoyed the most. First, an interesting animated version of this poem with T.S. Eliot reciting:

This one I liked to much not to post as well.

 I got booted....

I'm adding to the last post from this morning.

At 9:30am the doctor tells me its a bad sprain (which I thought)and sends me for xrays (14 mile$ away). They tell me it's fractured and send me home to wait for the dr. to call after he gets the news. His nurse tells me to come in and pick up a prescription to go to the place for the boot. They close between 12 and 1pm. I then go to the place told me (16 mile$). It's not even there and hasn't been for years. I find the place (9 more mile$) and when I get there I'm told they don't do that kind of service - send me about 2 mile$ down the road to another company. I wait over an hour or more to see the dr. and get fitted.

I got home at 4pm. I didn't have ice on it but once all day. Now it's swelled up big time.

This boot is huge and I have to wear it for two weeks. The good news is 1) it didn't happen last week when I had company. 2) I didn't have to have a plaster cast. 3)We don't have to be out of the house by a certain date yet. It has caused more problems for everyone else more so than I. My husband and brother/boss were relying on me heavily for a lot this week that I cannot deliver and I feel bad. I'm also supposed to go with my daughter to the college tomorrow to sign up for classes. What poor timing. Oh well.

 I sprained my ankle........

I cannot believe it, yes I sprained my ankle. Sunday afternoon was all planned, I had cleaning, packing etc. Our good friends Sally and Joe called and offered to help me with setting up what's at the new house and I was to meet them in an hour.

I was carrying a box down the steps to put in the car to take to our next house. I misjudged the last step and TOTALLY turned my ankle. I was home alone, I thought I was going to pass out. Anyway, my nurse friend came over and walked the dog and wrapped my ankle. I spent the day with ice on it (and feeling sorry for myself). All plans were nixed.

My husband works from 10am until 12mid. He just got up and I'm going to tell him my news.

Have a great day
