 Lovely breeze.

Thought I'd post a wee bit. Currently having all kinds of issues with my internet connection. The wierdest thing it wouldn't let me view any videos on Anex site, kept timing out when I tried to leave comments on other sites. Oh well, I'll try again next time.

I've been very busy and so I do try to catch some blogs as best I can, this week has seen little PC action. It's the end of the school year and it's our busiest time of year at work at the Awards and Recognition store I work at Mon,Tues,Thurs and some Fridays. My daughter's graduation is this Friday and we've invited everyone we know to a party to be held here while at the same time boxing up stuff and preparing to move. Nuff said. b

Thursday at the Senior Awards program my daughter was awarded "The President's Award for Outstanding Academic Achievement" complete with a stamped signature of George Bush. We had no idea what she was to be awarded for. Four students won this for starting out in 9th grade with a very low GPA, bringing up five points and maintaining it. I was so PROUD. Her brother went into 9th with a high average and purposly made it his goal to dumb down. We were always at the school because he wasn't working to his potential and being obstinent. She worked hard for this. It was great.

Hubby's been staining the deck and taking loads up to the new house. We're also going to be housing relatives there for the big party so we have to have it habitable (blow up beds, etc). The girl child is way to absorbed in ending senior week to lift a finger. The boy (manchild of 21) is too ignorant to offer a hand. His day is coming after this weekend. We just want to get through a nice weekend with relatives (and everyone else we've ever known before the shit hits the fan).

I'm typing in the dark, sitting in my screenroom, with a lovely breeze and my faithful Shadowdog by my side. At moments like this I cannot beleive we are downsizing into a different home. It will be a good move in the long run but I am worried about the home sale market and smaller quarters.

I've talked before about my relationship with the girlchild. She's been lying about whose she's with and what's she's doing. If I call her on it she will know I know how to get into her email/facebook/myspace page, etc. (as I am NOT listed as a friend). She is 18. The issues are not anything bad and she's handled herself well. I just can't understand why she has to lie to me. I don't want to loose my "in" in the event that something serious evolves. I can only see it as some kind of way of feeling independent from parents. But how stupid is it when it's things that don't matter?? I know you all think I'm nuts for sitting back on the lieing issue but if I'm cut out completely I will never know if she is safe or not. Probably warped parenting on my part.

I will sit here and think about it some more. Enjoy your Saturday night.

 The Weekend is over

Our City had an annual Memorial Day Artfest/Music/Filmfest. Harrisburg is located on the Susquehanna River. It's a beautiful site for this festival. The road is lined with old trees high above the river on one side and beautiful examples of old architecture lining the other. The street is closed off for the vendors art exhibits and music stages. I go every year and I just love it. The art, food, music, community, is all so fun. Anyway, for the past five years a FREE filmfest is offered at the neighboring Whitaker Center for the Arts. This year the first day featured some movies I found to be too gross in their humour. I'm considered pretty edgy in my circle of peers. I feel it was a disservice to the organizers by showing potty, penis, gross humour the first day. The filmfest was written up in all the papers. You can't expect to attract mainstream people and then show them something so offbeat. Well, I should probably blog this in the local paper, but I'm too much the gutless wonder and probably too lazy tonight to do so. I only was able to attend Saturday because of all SORTING - BOXING AND FREAKING MOVING OF BOXES AND ABSOLUTE JUNK I've been doing so we can move. Anyway, we've had lovely weather and I hope you all have as well.

Lars and the Real Girl, The Savages,

Just got back from Yoga. Wrote the last invitations for my daughter's graduation party. I have done NOTHING to the house to prepare for this. I had grandiose plans to repaint the kitchen (which is a TERRIBLE shade of green that shouts "WHAT WERE YOU THINKING" when someone comes in . It's been that way for 4 years!! Way too much HGTV caused this. Thought we'd get the deck stained and the screens on the screenroom redone. It is what it is. The "plan" is to hide all the junk in boxes under the bed and go to Sam's Club and buy everything the day before the party. Sounds like a good plan doesn't it?

The new pc system we're using at work is just crazy. I've gone from one pc where I do online and live bidding to THREE computers and two keyboards w/mouses (mice?) I'm giving it my best but it's nuts. Trying to do this during the rapid paice of an auction is quite an experience.

OK some movie reviews: I watched the DVD Lars and the Real Girl. It's kinda slow for some people but I liked it. A whole town becomes involved in helping one individual work through a delusional episode. Wouldn't it be nice if something like that really could be true? I also watched "The Savages" which is a movie about caregiving. It's somewhat of a black comedy but I think it really highlights this issue. Philip Seymour Hoffman and Laura Linney (two of my favorites) are wonderful. Great acting, great dialogue. Rent it!!

Last night my daughter's school had the big "ART SHOW". Because she's a senior she had a "panel" of her artwork and photography. I was so proud of her display and work. (I'll admit a little miffed that she had the only panel if the back facing the wall, but what can you do?).

So that's it in a nutshell. Take care all you blog peeps

Where have all the flowers gone?

I just tried to catch up on three different blogs I like to communicate with. All three are deactivated. I am sad. I hope they come back.

Where do they go? Why do they deactivate? Why don't they just not post for a while? Does someone else deactivate them? None of them gave any indication they would no longer be available. I wish they'd just say "I need a break, I'll be back." I'd feel better knowing they're not gone for good.

On the Lighter Side of things

This one I couldn't resist for you Anexplorer ha ha.
This one I just thought was funny. I mean Health Care is a big issue afterall.

I just spent the last hour or so working on my daughter's HS graduation announcements. I can't believe my youngest is graduating.

Time for a Blue Moon and some oranges, it's Friday night.
